The Patrons
Lord Borrie, lately chair of the Advertising Standards Authority and previously the Director General of the Office of Fair Trading, was our founding Chairman. Sir John Banham, a plc Chairman and previously Director-General of the CBI and controller of the Audit Commission, is also a patron.

The Trustees
Michael Smyth is the Chairman. He is a partner at Clifford Chance and is head of the firm’s public policy practice. The other Trustees are Gary Brown (former whistleblower); Peter Connor (formerly head of the Fraud Squad’s Public Sector Corruption Unit); Derek Elliott (a district auditor who has helped lead the work of the Audit Commission on organisational culture); Maurice Frankel (Director of the Campaign for Freedom of Information); Chidi King (a former colleague at PCaW, now a rights officer at Public Services International); Martin Le Jeune (partner of Open Road, and former staff member at the Committee for Standards in Public Life); Carol Sergeant CBE (Chief Risk Director at Lloyds TSB, formerly Managing Director for Regulatory Process and Risk at the FSA); and James Tickell (consultant to the Charity Commission and voluntary sector; formerly Assistant Chief Executive of the National Housing Federation).

The Council
The Council has an advisory role to the charity. Michael Brindle QC is Chairman. Current members include Roger Bolton, Steve Burkeman, Gerald Bowden, Tony Close CBE, Sir Ross Cranston, Dr Yvonne Cripps, Baroness Dean, Zerbanoo Gifford, Edwin Glasgow QC, Roger Jefferies, Rosalie Langley Judd, David Owen, Chris Price, Mike Sibbald, Dr Elaine Sternberg, Dr Marie Stewart, Stephen Whittle and Marlene Winfield OBE.
